Many owners ignore the smell of wet basements, but are something that should not be done. That smell means there are fungus, caused by excessive humidity, low light and poor air circulation. Fungi grow on most surfaces of a basement and identify because they are black or white. Try these odors immediately to avoid exposing yourself to harmful fungi and mold spores. Instructions
- Open all basement windows to make the smell of damp leave, if you have installed walls extractors. Otherwise, place electric fans in front of windows.
- Sprinkle chlorinated lime over all the carpeted areas of the basement and wear gloves and a dust mask. Leave chemicals in dust on the carpet until the musty smell dissipates.
- Vacuum the carpet throughout. Put 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water in a bucket.
- Spend this solution on all surfaces of cement floor with a loofah sponge. This solution also cleans all concrete walls using a sponge.
- Throw the dirty solution and rinse the bucket with water once you have finished cleaning the floor and walls. Fill the bucket with fresh water.
- Pass the ground water to remove the bleach solution. Rinse the walls with water using a clean cloth.
- Clean the walls and floor thoroughly with clean dry towels to prevent moisture from forming. Connects a pair of dehumidifiers to remove all moisture from the air.

- You can replace the sodium hypochlorite bleach.
